Speight's Gold Medal Ale

The legend begins here. In 1880 Speight’s enters it’s flagship ale into the Melbourne Exhibition. It cleans up, winning 2 gold medals and gets a new name; Gold Medal Ale is born.

Tasting Notes:
Speight’s is the beer of choice after a hard day’s work. Probably the least sweet of all New Zealand beers, this characteristic allows the full flavour of the malt and hops to shine through.
Speight’s Gold Medal Ale is a great accompaniment to any meat dish and is superb with Southern game dishes such as venison, duck and rabbit.

Speight's 5 Malt Old Dark

If you’re looking for a beer with a big creamy flavour you’ve come to the right place.

Tasting Notes:
5 malt old dark was introduced into the Speight's range in 1992 to meet consumer demands for the classic 'dark' beer. No prizes for guessing why it got its name. By carefully selecting, roasting and matching 5 separate malts we have crafted a dark beer that gives rich, creamy, chocolate fudge flavours swiftly followed by coffee overtones. Perfect for warming the cockles on a stormy night.
Best drunk with some fine New Zealand cheeses or chocolate desserts.

Speight's Summit Lager

Speight’s Summit is a refreshing golden lager. Brewed for a crisp, clear result, this lager’s definitely earned its alpine name.

Tasting Notes:
We brewed Summit by blending fresh, light malts with a subtle fruity hop flavour. The toasted, natural malts give the beer its distinct golden colour, while the hops add a clean, crisp finish.
It’s the same finish that makes Summit such a refreshing brew, perfect for fish and chips with the lads or even a spicy curry.

Speight's Mid Ale

We don't usually do things in halves, but it seemed like a good idea to give you people a good, full flavoured 2.5% beer.

Tasting Notes:

Brewed using Crystal, Caramalt and Chocolate malts, Speight's Mid Ale enjoys a smooth caramelised flavour and aroma, which is contrasted by the bitterness of Pacific Jade and Green Bullet hops.
The finished product is a perfectly balanced, mid strength beer that's still full of flavour.

Speight's Triple Hop Pilsner

The balanced blend of aromatic hops gives this classic pilsner its full flavour with a clean finish. The thirst quencher to share with mates.

Tasting Notes:

A real pilsner true to its traditions, Triple Hop Pilsner uses three distinct hops; one for bitterness at the beginning and two for aroma added later in the brew.
The moment you spark up the barbecue is the moment to take the top off a Triple Hop Pilsner, perfect beer match with anything from the sea; snapper or cod you choose.

Speight's Apple Cider

A crisp, clean, dry cider. Speight's Cider is the refreshing way to conquer your thirst, best served over ice.

Tasting Notes:

Made with New Zealand apples, our Cider is Speight's to the core. It is crisp, dry and nothing but refreshing. Speight's cider compliments many dishes perfectly, but is perhaps best enjoyed with anything grilled over flames; pork ribs, chicken and grilled seafood are particularly great matches.

Speight’s Empire is a 5.5% ABV Indian Pale Ale brewed with Pale Ale Malt plus Caramalt and Roasted Malts for some extra caramelised maltiness and a deep amber colour.

One of the legendary Speight's brews that is famous in alehouses the length and breadth of New Zealand. Our recipe dates from 1929 and nothing much has changed since then. A deep coffee and chocolate flavour makes this porter one to savor. Pouring at your Alehouse now.

Tasting Notes:

A blend of crystal, caramalt, roasted wheat and chocolate malt combine to give this porter is complex, smoky and rich coffee aroma. And yes that is a subtle chocolate you are tasting too. Speight's Porter is a great accompaniment to any chocolate desert and is superb with blue cheese or oysters.

Speight's Remarkable Bitter

A limited release available exclusively at Speight’s Ale Houses.

Tasting Notes:

As the name suggests, Remarkable Bitter is not your average brew. It’s a Scottish town’s version of an English Pub favourite. With its earthy malt aroma and sharp, crisp bitterness this beer is a touch bigger, a little more refreshing, and somewhat more remarkable than the average English Special Bitter.
